We're incredibly honored to have picked up a few awards in this year's Portland Phoenix Best Music Readers' Poll (live act! country act! album!), and we're equally honored to have been able to attend such a fun party at the awards ceremony. The Maine music scene is insane, and Nick and the rest of the folks at the Phoenix do a wonderful, often thankless, job bringing acts from across the stylistic and geographic spectrum into the spotlight. Nice work, guys and gals, and great times.

The best album award for "The Falling of the Pine," we must say, we didn't expect, and from where we sit it's pretty rad that this group of folk songs penned by Maine working-folk 100-200 years ago is, to enough of the Phoenix readers out there, apparently worthy of the honor. So we'll pour one out for the loggers and sailors that penned the tunes in the 1800's, the folklorists who collected them in the 1920's, and the working classes of every epoch.

Anyway, congrats to the Ghost of Paul Revere, Brzowski, Lyle Divinsky, Murcielago, Tricky Britches, Samuel James, Hello Newman, DJ Tinydancer, Mosart 212, God.damn.chan., GoldenOak, Renee Coolbrith, Max Garcia Conover, the Kenya Hall Band, Too Late the Hero, Damn Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew, Weakened Friends, The Fogcutters, Dominic, Ruin, TheWorst, The Asthmatic, Jason Spooner, Tiger Bomb, B Aull, The Halo, AFRiCAN DUNDADA, An Overnight Low, Portland House of Music and Events, and Primo Cubano.
