"Lights Along the River" to be released April 25, 2015 at Port City Music Hall

mallett-brothers-lights-along-the-river.jpg

We're psyched to let you guys know that our latest record, "Lights Along the River," will be officially released on April 25, 2015 with a celebration at Port City Music Hall in Portland, Maine. We're really happy with how the record came out and we can't wait to get it out there!

Tickets are available from Port City Music Hall online and at the box office.

Fall Update - Boats, Lakes, Tours, Young Matt, Etc.

We've had a slammin' fall and things are goin' good. Big thanks to everyone out there for showing support, listening to our tunes, coming out to shows and keeping this train rolling. We wanted to fill everyone in on a couple new developments that we're particularly excited about...

1) New album is on the way.

We recorded our latest record (our 4th) at the beginning of October in a remote location way up in the woods of Maine. It was at a boat-access-only camp and we had to haul about 5 party-barge loads worth of recording equipment in before we could start. Unnecessary, most definitely, but we had such a good time and think the good vibes, the seclusion, and all the other perks of doing a record that way really came out in the songs, and we can't wait to get 'em out to you. We haven't set a release date yet but we're in the finishing touches stage and should have this thing out in the next few months. Stay tuned....

2) Welcome aboard, Matt Mills!

Since the congenial departure of Mr. Nate Soule this past summer we've been playing mostly as a 5-piece, but you may have caught a young dude playing with us out on the road shredding on electric, banjo, pedal steel or some combo of all of those. His name is Matt, and we're truly psyched to be bringing him on board. His current place of residence is Nashville, Tennessee so he hasn't been able to make it to every gig right away, but you can expect to be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Why would a band from Maine hire a guitar player from Tennessee, you ask? Well, that is a good question and it's a long story. But... we figure it's practical because he delivers the goods, and sentimental because check this out:

That's Matt with the mullet in the middle. Basically, we've known this guy since the day he was born and he's been like a brother ever since. When a spot opened up in the band, and with the amount of time we're spending out on the road these days away from the Northeast, we figured we could make it work. That and a bunch of twists of fate that led us to all look at each other and say yeah, he's our dude.

We did bring him up north for the record and he's got his fingerprints all over the thing, so stay tuned to hear what we've all been cookin' up.

Quick PSA: Matt is still technically in the "hazing" period and try as we might we don't think we've been giving him enough hell, so if you see him, by all means, bust his chops.

3) Gigs, gigs and more gigs.

We've had an absolute blast out on the road this fall. New England, New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and wherever else we've gone we've had the good fortune of being treated like family wherever we wind up, and we can't thank all you guys enough. We're pumped to get back out on the road again in support of this new record that's on the way, and we'll be seeing all you guys soon we're sure.

In the mean time we'll be pretty local through New Year's, with stops in northern Maine, upstate New York, Massachusetts and a big party on January 3rd at Port City Music Hall in our home town of Portland which should be one for the books.

Thanks again to all you guys and make sure you come out and see us soon. Until then, cheers..

A Great Tour, Summer Plans, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Etc.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who came out to our shows over the past couple weeks in Michigan, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee. It was one of the best tours we've had so far - great gigs, great times, a bunch of new friends and a couple nice catfish breakfasts. We'll be headed back out on that route again soon so be sure to come see us again folks!

Over the next couple months we're staying busy, mostly up here in the Northeast, and we have some real great gigs on the way. We're in Brewer this Saturday at the Brewer Performing Arts Center, and get over to Vermont and Upstate New York next weekend. June has too much going on to list here (check out the Tour tab), but we're particularly psyched to be opening up for Charlie Daniels and Lynyrd Skynyrd in New Hampshire on June 15. If you're thinking about heading down, be sure to buy your tickets from THIS LINK in order to kick us a little extra beer money.

Thanks again and catch you all out on the road!

New England Music Awards

A while back we were lucky enough to be asked by the New England Music Awards to play the last set of the night at their awards show on Feb. 22nd

We were also lucky enough to be nominated for not only best band in New England, but for best album as well.

Wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of you out there who voted for us. The New England Music Awards is a great event, bringing attention to all of us rock and rollers hiding out here in the North East and trying to break out into the rest of the country.

We were very suprised, due to the wonderful bands we shared these nominations with, and ecstatic to hear our names called twice, immediately before we had to take the stage. We had a great night, we have great fans, and don't expect us to slow down any time soon. Thanks.

Luke

Broadcasting from Mechanicsville, Virginia

This extended fall tour has been damn incredible. From New York to Pennsylvania to Chicago to Wisconsin to Denver, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and an incredible time opening up for the Turnpike Troubadours up at the legendary Birchmere in Alexandria, VA the other night, we couldn't be having more fun.

Been enjoying a couple days of rest and relaxation at our buddy George Turman's place outside Richmond. He's an incredibly talented folksinger of the old guard and you should check him out if you ever get the chance.

A couple more dates and then we're headed back to Maine. Tonight we're down in Chapel Hill, NC at the Kraken, then playing a good buddy and gnarly banjo player's wedding up in Maryland, then back down to Nashville for some more recording and a great gig at the famous Bluebird Cafe opening up for our old man David Mallett.

Huge thanks to everybody coming out to shows, buying albums and t-shirts and shots of whiskey. We really are incredibly honored to be able to do this stuff and eternally grateful for all of your support.

Catch you all down the road!

Been a hell of a summer, ladies and gentleman. We were priveleged with the opportunity to open up for the Allman Brothers Band and Steve Winwood at Meadowbrook in New Hampshire a few weeks ago, and Toby Keith at the Bangor Waterfront the week after that.

Here's an instagram shot of the Toby Keith gig taken by our friend Sarah. It was raining but it was beautiful.

Anyway the summer was unreal great but we're gearing up for fall. We have a few really cool gigs coming up to wrap up September, this Friday at the Arch Street Tavern in Hartford, CT and then a Common Ground Fair after party up in Unity, Maine on Saturday.

Next weekend we'll be at the New England Americana Festival in Boston (read an interview with Will about the festival and about a bunch of other stuff on the Red Line Roots blog here ), followed by an awesome party in Maine on Saturday at the Wolfe's Neck Farm in Freeport. Get there early because there will be a square dance before we go on. We'll be partaking, you bet.

October brings some heavy road-tripping; we'll be doing a 5-week swing out through Colorado, down to Texas, back through Tennessee and have a ton of great gigs in between. One of them is a co-bill with Luke and Will's old man David Mallett at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, another is at the equally legendary Birchmere in Alexandria, VA opening up for a killer band called the Turnpike Troubadours. Another is at the equally legendary Continental Club in Austin, which we hit up last time we were in Austin to check a set by one of our heroes, James McMurtry. Good stuff.

We'll also be recording a couple new tracks when we're in Nashville with a Grammy Award Winning engineer/producer named Rich Adler, and we couldn't be more thrilled about it. We're brainstorming some cool ways to release these and a couple other tracks we have waiting in the wings, so stay tuned.

Much love to you all, thanks so much for all the support and for making it possible to keep this train a-runnin'. Means the world to us.

Catch you down the road,

TMBB

New Mallett Brothers Band Video: Take It Slow

Jason Bosch has done a bunch of sweet videos for us and he just wrapped up another one along with Michael Gagne. Their company is called Red Stallion Media, they're based right in Portland, Maine and they have a knack for taking something as boring as a bunch of guys playing tunes on a front porch and making it look cool as hell.

So yeah, right on. Check it out:

iTunes, State of the State, and other Good News

So much good stuff going on right now.

First off, the new album is on iTunes. Tell all your friends! Also, seems silly but if you dig the record and want to leave us a review on iTunes, it actually helps a lot. Mucho appreciado!

Also, we have a ton of great gigs coming up including the Montauk Music Festival, a Boston album release at Johnny D's and a ton more. Check out the "Tour" tab for dates and such.

Third up, we're beyond excited to be a part of this unbelievable show that's going down at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine this July. The bill is ridiculous and includes some of the coolest bands and acts around anywhere... it's called the State of the State and it should be great. Check it out and buy your tickets fast because it will probably sell out:

Album release on April 27 and other big news for April!

Hey so we've got the new album mastered, it's called "Land," and we're gonna be celebrating its release on April 27th at the Asylum in Portland. Joining us will be our good friends from upstate New York, Eastbound Jesus, and we're very excited. It's our first hometown show since our unplugged set at St. Lawrence Arts back in December and we can't wait to see all of our friends. We're also psyched to finally get this album out to you guys, it's been a long time in the works and we hope you dig it.

We've also got some other cool stuff coming up this month. For example, this Friday we're down at the Ocean Mist in Rhode Island and then up in Bangor at the Civic Center on Saturday. Next weekend we get to spend a weekend raising hell and maybe climbing some mountains up in Rangeley... life is good.

On April 20th though is another show which will be a real treat. We'll be sharing the stage with David Mallett -- the man, the myth, the phenomenal musical talent, the Spartan conversationalist, the kick ass dad -- up in Rockland at the Strand Theatre. It's the day before his birthday and it's the first time we've officially shared the stage since... since I think the Chocolate Church in Bath back in 2009. Been a while.

So get your tickets (cd release hereshow with my dad here), come out and hang, let's all celebrate mud season together.

On the Road Again! Southbound.

As you guys probably know, we're on the road a hell of a lot these days. Usually it's around the Northeast; a couple weeks ago we had a great run down to North Carolina and back and had an awesome time in Richmond, VA, Philly, Durham, Southern Pines…

As you guys probably know, we're on the road a hell of a lot these days. Usually it's around the Northeast; a couple weeks ago we had a great run down to North Carolina and back and had an awesome time in Richmond, VA, Philly, Durham, Southern Pines. This past weekend we were in NYC and Saratoga Springs, NY. Killer time.

Anyway, tonight we're hitting the road for our longest run so far, headed down through Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and ultimately to Austin, Texas, where we have a few showcases. Needless to say we're pretty excited... for the weather, for the great music that we're sure to come across on the way, for the food (Waffle House), for the always enjoyable long van rides, and to hang with more of the awesome people that we always somehow find when we're out there, wherever it is.

Gonna be pretty awesome. We'll be back to Maine in about 3 weeks (hope you all enjoy mud season!), and in the mean time we'll keep you posted on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and all that. If you have friends or family in any of the cities we're hitting and feel like telling them to come check out a show, we'd be eternally grateful.

The new album, by the way, is WICKED close. We're sending it off to get mastered within a day or two, and we're most likely looking at a release in April... we'll keep you posted!

Cheers,

TMBB

New Mallett Brothers Band Album on the Way!

Last night we finished up mixing the new record at Jon Wyman's studio here in Maine. It sounds fantastic. There's some mellow folky stuff, there's some full blown rock and roll, we think you guys will like it.

We want to send a huge thanks to everybody who chipped in to our Pledge Music campaign; without you guys, we probably wouldn't have been able to pull this thing off. Forever indebted, for real.

We're working on mastering now and the artwork is underway, so keep your eyes peeled for this thing being released in the next couple months.

PEACE, LOVE,

- TMBB

Portland -> Boston Party Van with MBB

This piece of machinery is kindly offering its services to our Brighton Music Hall gig in Boston this Friday with Coyote Kolb and Township.

Fully equipped with a DD and a DJ, this sucker will be leaving Portland whenever people get out of work (around 5:30 or 6), trucking it down to Boston and heading back to Portland that night.

Limited spots available, so if you're interested in coming along, shoot us a message!

Love,

TMBB

Help The Mallett Brothers Band Make Our Third Record!

We'll be recording our third record with Jon Wyman at Halo Studio here in Maine. We couldn't be more pumped. We've recorded and mastered two tracks so far, but we still have a ways to go (If you haven't seen our most recent video for "Little Bit of Mud," check it out

But, as fun as recording in an amazing studio with an incredible producer/engineer is, it costs a little dough. Since we operate independently without any label or corporate support, we're asking YOU, our fans, to help us get this thing done. In return for your pledges, you'll be compensated generously with one of a bunch of cool "exclusives" we have going on over there - anything from a signed copy of the new CD when it comes out, to us coming to your house and cooking you dinner. Etc, etc. Could get crazy in here.

Anyway, head on over and check out our Pledge page, watch the little video that the amazing Maine videographer Jason Bosch so graciously whipped up for us, and help us out if you can swing it!

Cheers, everybody. Now time to blow this continental-breakfast-stand and head up to Saranac Lake!

New Video: A Little Bit of Mud

Pumped to announce that we have a new video up for "Little Bit of Mud," the first single off our 3rd studio album. The video was directed by Jason Bosch, and the track was produced by Jon Wyman at Halo Studio. The video was filmed predominantly at the Redneck Blank event in Hebron, Maine, which, as you can imagine, was more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

We'll be launching a Pledge Music campaign to fund the rest of the album, which we'll also be recording with Jon at some point this fall.

Hope you enjoy!

Hope to catch you all somewhere down the road, and if you want us to play somewhere we haven't played yet, just let us know and we'll do what we can to make it happen.
